This is a great halter for the price, with characteristics difficult to find (fixed chin, black leather, fancy stitching). The leather isn't very soft, but at this price point I wasn't expecting it to be. The padding on the nose felt softer than the padding on the headstall.
My horse did manage to break the halter by pulling back (he's a big guy and it took several seconds of a strong effort to break), but the place where it broke is the leather piece on the left-hand buckle side, which is the same piece designed to break on many safety halters. I have several repair "fuses" for that piece, and will use one on this halter.
